Meet the Presenters

Alyssa Pugh, GRC Content Manager, Tandem

Alyssa has more than ten years of professional technical and information security experience. She earned a B.A. in Technical Communications and has achieved the CISM and Security+ certifications. Alyssa currently serves as the GRC Content Manager for Tandem, an information security and compliance application. In this role, she participates in the development of content for Tandem, as well as educational resources related to information security governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance. In addition to her passion for technology, Alyssa is also a wife, graphic designer, and video game enthusiast.

Brian Hinze, VP Member Services & Operations, NCU-ISAO

Brian is responsible for overseeing the organizational operations and acting as the primary liaison for its members, leadership and working groups, as well as new member development. Brian is committed to the success of the organization’s members and their journey to cyber resilience. He joined the organization shortly after its inception and brings 20 years of experience participating in and leading member associations. Brian has also worked in for-profit industry for international companies, while also leading small business-focused teams.

Wayne Trout, Regional Information Systems Officer, NCUA

Wayne is a graduate of Frostburg State University, in Maryland, with a BS in Accounting. He served four years with the U.S. Army before joining the NCUA as a financial examiner in 1999. In 2004 Wayne transitioned from the safety and soundness program to IT examinations where he helped develop the Regional Information Systems Officer (RISO) program. Over the next 19 years, Wayne worked as an RISO, an Information Systems Officer (ISO), and completed an 18-month detail as NCUA’s Director, Critical Infrastructure Division.  He has achieved the CISA, CRISC, and CBRITP certifications in the areas of Cybersecurity and Business Continuity. 

Federico Fernandez, Information Systems Officer, NCUA

Fred is a seasoned professional with a 30-year career as a state and federal examiner, dedicated to addressing concerns with safety & soundness, and information security. Currently serving as an Information Systems Officer for NCUA's Southern Region, Fred's expertise extends beyond regular duties. He actively contributes to the development of examiner training programs, tests new examination procedures, and follows up on ransomware incidents. After hours, Fred enjoys time with family, reading and tasting his wife’s new recipes.
